Membership Terms & Conditions

The Tennis Cafe in Gildredge Park is a trading name for Active Children Ltd, a not for profit company set up to promote tennis and fitness. As well as operating its club in Gildredge Park, the Tennis Cafe, in partnership with Eastbourne Borough Council and Wave Leisure Trust, manages the booking of Eastbourne’s Council courts.

 

Family Court Membership

1.0 Contract. Your membership contract is with Active Children Ltd trading as The Tennis Cafe.
2.0 Term. You are entering into an annual contract with fees collected in advance.

3.0 Court Booking. This membership allows you to book and use the courts at Gildredge Park for no additional fees. Courts must be used for playing tennis only. Some court hours will not be available for booking as they will be held aside for mix-ins, coaching, competitions, etc. We will always maintain a fair and reasonable balance between bookable and held aside courts.

3.1 Please note that this membership allows only you and your family to use the courts at Gildredge Park. Any non-family playing adult/junior guests must pay a £5/£2.50 guest fee and at the cafe or online. Any unpaid guest fees will be chargeable to the court booking member.

4.0 Other Membership Benefits:

4.1 Free LTA Membership and entry into the draw for the right to purchase Wimbledon tickets is subject to the scheme being made available by the LTA.

5.0 Your membership fees are paid annually in advance. Once paid, fees will not be refunded.

6.0 How we can end your contract. We can cancel this contract with immediate effect in the following circumstances:

6.1 If you repeatedly abuse your booking rights by using the courts for non tennis playing purposes.

6.2 If you act in an abusive, threatening or violent manner

6.3 If your behaviour raises any concerns with regard to safeguarding children or vulnerable adults

6.4 If you act in a way which prevents other members from enjoying the facility

6.5 If we end your membership for any of these reasons, we have the right to keep a proportion of the money paid under this agreement, to cover any reasonable costs we have to pay.

7.0 Data Protection. We follow the Data Protection Act 1998. You are entitled to see the information we hold about you and you can ask us to make any necessary changes to make sure that it is accurate and up to date.

 

Adult Individual Off Peak and Peak Memberships

1.0 Contract. Your membership contract is with Active Children Ltd trading as The Tennis Cafe

1.1 These memberships offer, for no additional fees, booking of appropriate standard club sessions free of charge as well as the benefits associated with our "Family Court Membership”.

1.2 The Peak membership offers these benefits 8am-10pm daily. The Off Peak membership offers these benefits 8am-4pm on weekdays and from 1:30pm to 10pm on weekends.

1.3 The memberships are individual contracts. Only you, the applicant, may book and take part in sessions.

2.0 Term. You are entering a rolling contract with fees being paid on an ongoing monthly basis.

3.0 The memberships offer you access to a mix of club sessions. We may make changes to the programme from time to time. Whilst we will maintain the overall balance and mix of sessions, we reserve the right to alter days and times of sessions.

4.0 Christmas and Bank Holidays. Please note that regular club sessions will not run on bank holidays. Also, there will be no sessions running over the Christmas period. Exact dates will be notified each year.

5.0 How you can end your contract. You may cancel your contract with one full months notice by emailing us. Notice cannot be accepted verbally. Please note, the notice period will be to the end of your current month plus an additional month.

5.1 Please note, simply cancelling your monthly payments will not constitute giving notice and your contract will not have ended.

5.2 To re-instate a cancelled contract within 4 weeks of cancellation there will be a £25 administration fee.

6.0 How we can end your contract. We can cancel this contract with immediate effect in the following circumstances:

6.1 If you repeatedly abuse your booking rights by using the courts for non tennis playing purposes.

6.3 If your behaviour raises any concerns with regard to safeguarding children or vulnerable adults

6.4 If you act in a way which prevents other members from enjoying the facility

6.5 If we end your membership for any of these reasons, we have the right to keep a proportion of the money paid under this agreement, to cover any reasonable costs we have to pay.

make sure that it is accurate and up to date.

 

Junior Coaching Membership and Tots (Pre-school) Memberships

1.0 Contract. Your membership contract is with Active Children Ltd trading as The Tennis Cafe

1.1 These memberships offer all age and standard appropriate coaching sessions for no additional cost.

1.2 These memberships do not include court booking rights.

1.3 The monthly fee is payable in advance by direct debit and is non-refundable.

1.4 You can cancel your contract by giving one complete calendar months written notice. This means that the notice period will be to the end of your current payment month plus an additional payment month. Please note, simply cancelling your monthly payments will not constitute giving notice and your contract will not have ended.

1.5 To re-instate a cancelled contract within 4 weeks of cancellation there will be a £25 administration fee.

1.6 The contract is not transferable.

1.7 It will be your responsibility to enrol, with our booking software, for your sessions. You will not be automatically booked into sessions.

1.8 We run a limited programme of activities over the Christmas holidays.

 

"PLAY FOR FREE Membership"

1.0 Contract. Your membership contract is with "Wave Leisure Trust".

2.0 Term. You are entering into an annually recurring contract. There are no fees involved as this is a free membership.

3.0 Court Booking. The council courts at the Old Town Recreation Ground, Hampden Park and on the seafront, at Fisherman's Green, are available for you to book free of charge. Courts must be used for playing tennis only. Some court hours will not be available for booking as they will be held aside for mix-ins, coaching, competitions, etc. We will always maintain a fair and reasonable balance between bookable and held aside courts. The courts will not be staffed and we are relying on people's goodwill to honour court bookings. In the event of any difficulties please call 01323 509859.

4.0 How you can end your contract. You can end your contract at any time. To do so please email us.

5.0 How we can end your contract. We can cancel this contract with immediate effect in the following circumstances:
